Continuing Legal Education

MEMORANDUM

Procedure for MCLEs held in the SF California Offices.

  1. Fill out MCLE Certificate of Completion, Attendance Sheet, and Evaluation forms with title, date, and speaker of course. Do not fill in attorney names, state bar numbers, etc. The attorneys will fill this in upon completion of course.
  2. Print out copy of Certificate of Completion and Evaluation forms for each attorney, including those in remote offices. Also, print out Attendance forms—1 for those participating in SF and 1 for each person in remote offices.
  3. Send forms, along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope, via USPS mail to all attorneys in remote offices.
  4. Make sure to collect and record which forms are missing from each attorney at the end of every month. Send reminders to those who have missing forms.

Procedure for Free Classes via LegalEdcenter

West LegalEdcenter is an Internet service that offers the most current and comprehensive library of online CLE programs, including programs from the nation's most respected local, state, and national bar associations and distinguished CLE providers. West LegalEdcenter offers previously recorded programs that can be taken anytime, as well as live programs.

Some benefits of West LegalEdcenter include the ability to:

  1. Take online CLE for credit in most U.S. states that have credit requirements (check your state CLE Requirements)
  2. Link to documents on Westlaw that are cited in program materials and verify the status of case law and statutory documents using the KeyCite(R) citation research service (Note: Westlaw usage is billed under your Westlaw subscription)
  3. View program materials online or download materials to enhance your CLE experience
  4. Simplify CLE reporting by tracking credits online and enabling you to download and complete affidavits for your state licensing authorities
  5. Take notes or link to Westlaw while viewing on-demand programs by allowing you to pause, rewind, or stop the program.
