RLI (2949) Ebilled – Quarterly billing – Legal-X -will be considered stale after 6 months

  • Staffed with no more than three individuals: the lead attorney, an associate (no 1st yr.), and a paralegal (additional timekeeper requires client approval)
  • Budgets are required for cases over $10,000 (complete the main case categories in Legal-X).  The warning threshold should be set at 70%.
  • Time or expense entries over six months old are not reimbursable
  • Client approval required for:
    • Multiple attendance calls, meetings, trials
    • Use of Experts
    • Workday shall not exceed ten (10) hours per day, except during trial, due to billable travel, or with handlers prior written approval
    • Legal research exceeding three (3) hours
  • Duplication of effort must be avoided. If multiple timekeepers work on the same/similar task, each timekeeper must demonstrate a specific, substantive, and independent contribution.
  • Long Distance Travel time billed as separate entry, must include ( include “travel billed at 50% of actual time” in entry)
    • This excludes driving time, which is paid at 100% (To the extent that an attorney performs work during travel, that work time should not be billed as travel time)
  • Local travel time (within 10 miles one-way) is not billable.
  • Partners performing associate-level work, attorneys performing paralegal-level work, or for any timekeeper performing clerical/overhead work will not be paid
  • Expense exceeding $500 may be submitted to handler - $1,000 must be pre-approved (noted on the invoice)
  • Preferred vendor US Legal Support (court reporting services)
