We are pleased to announce that next Tuesday, George Calhoun, a commercial litigator and bankruptcy expert based out of Washington D.C., will be presenting a firmwide CLE addressing the impact of an insured’s bankruptcy on insurance and coverage litigation.

If you have not run into bankruptcy issues yet, it’s only a matter of time, and this primer will be a great way to be ready for when you do!

After a general overview of bankruptcy law, George will be diving into important issues to consider, such as:

• What options does an insurer have to protect insurance assets and coverage issues?
• How to address and enforce a bankrupt insured’s pre-petition waiver or release of claims
• How to resolve coverage disputes during the course of bankruptcy
• What court do you want to determine coverage issues?
• When are insurance policies and proceeds part of the bankruptcy estate, and what is the impact?
• Can the insured-debtor satisfy claims by assigning insurance proceeds?
• What is a Section 524g channeling injunction?  What does it mean for the underlying lawsuits against the policyholder?
