Hiscox (4200) – monthly billing (within 15 days of end of any calendar month) $1,000.00 threshold unless one cycle skipped or final – Legal-X
Staffing - Generally 2 attorneys assigned to a matter – exceptions with Hiscox’ s prior approval
- Prior written approval required for two timekeepers to perform same task, such as attending a meeting or hearing.
- Prior written approval required for more than 10 hours billed per day.
- Counsel must obtain prior written approval from Hiscox for any coverage opinion, letter, motion, or brief that will take more than twenty (20) hours to draft.
- All travel time will be reimbursed at 50% of the timekeeper’s approved hourly rate. Must include origin and destination (city and state), total number of miles traveled round-trip, and any factors that extended travel time.
- Hiscox will not reimburse for excessive proofreading, editing, or revising of documents for which initial preparation was previously charged by the same timekeeper or by another, or when the additional revisions do not demonstrate an added area of expertise.
- Legal research projects that will take more than ten (10) hours to complete require prior written approval from Hiscox. Lexis and Westlaw considered part of firm overhead.
- Disbursements should be itemized and described on your invoice. Back-up documentation is required
- Supporting documentation (vendor invoice, receipt or specific proof of payment) is required for all expenses of $75.00 or more and we may request other supporting documentation at any time.
- Prior Approval required for: (a) Expert witness or litigation consultant fees; and (b) other professional services or expenses and (c) all expenses and disbursements items over $2,500.
- For overnight travel, a per diem amount of $75 will be allowed without prior approval from Hiscox.
- Requires budget approval on Legal-X billing site prior to bill submittal
- Hiscox will not pay fees or costs incurred by separate local counsel when lead counsel is not admitted in the jurisdiction.
