Would NOT recommend him. "The mediator was not effective. While he understood the case and read the relevant materials, he was too combative and dismissive of our client’s coverage positions. Instead of addressing the substance of our arguments, Judge Spero took the position that jury would be incapable of understanding the nuances of our arguments and would award everything to plaintiff/insured. He also accused us of misrepresenting the facts of the case, and asked our client/insurer rep. what she thought about that, which was very offensive. Plaintiff’s initial demand included the full amount of the alleged property damage, plus pre-judgment interest. The mediator was unsuccessful in convincing plaintiff to knock the pre-judgment interest off until its third settlement demand. Had the parties negotiated within the context of the property damage exclusive of interest from the outset, the case would have had a far better chance of settling. " - Seth Manfredi
